CHELSEA ASIEDU
Hello, my name is Chelsea Asiedu. I am a junior attending Stony Brook University majoring in Psychology on the Pre-Med track. My goal is to become an OBGYN someday. This program gave me insight on how to prepare for medical school. I learned what to expect throughout the application process and how to prepare for the MCAT. I also learned that there is no rush in going to medical school right away. I now understand that I should not compare myself to everyone because we all have different paths. The journey to reach my dream will not be easy, but this program motivated me to keep going. I also enjoyed hearing from many different amazing medical professionals; hearing their success stories inspired me not to give up.

ADELEYE ORIOLA
I am Adeleye Oriola, a rising sophomore at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. I’m a Yoruba from Ondo state Nigeria and an international student in the US. I strongly recommend this program for any student trying to make sense of navigating medical school in the US especially if you’re the first in your family. I became more aware of the different tracks in medical school, the difference between M.D and D.O medicine, and what it takes to be a competitive applicant. The fact that the facilitators were people we can relate to and share similar backgrounds with also helped a great deal. It’s a really wonderful program and I highly recommend it.

ANOUSHKA SINHA
My name is Anoushka S. an incoming freshman extremely passionate about biological sciences, life’s creations, the rights of minorities in the healthcare system and a proud Persevere scholar. I hope to work towards helping underrepresented populations get equal access to healthcare. The persevere program is the best thing that happened to me. The information that I grasped from the program has been extremely invaluable. It has helped me immensely as a first generation student in STEM to navigate my career path. The program has made it possible for me to set clear timelines for me to achieve my aim to become a professional in the field. I hope to be able to mentor and support the other scholars in the future.

AISOSA EKHATOR
Hello my name is Aisosa Ekhator. I am currently a Junior attending SUNY Oswego majoring in Wellness Management on a pre-med track. I hope to one day become a Sports Medicine Physician. When I applied to the Persevere Program I was seeking knowledge about the Medical school process including applying for the MCAT, studying for it and what med schools look for in an applicant -- fortunately, I was able to obtain exactly that. This program has helped me tremendously, more specifically, the various panels gifted me with information that I will apply to my journey in medicine for years to come.

DIVINE OGUGUA
My name is Divine Ogugua. I'm an international student at Edward Waters University. I'm also a rising sophomore and a Biology major. Prior to attending the Persevere program, I had a lot of uncertainty surrounding medical school and I didn't have a clear-cut plan on how to get there; however, the Persevere program provided a lot of clarity and answers to some of the questions I had and even those I didn't know to ask. I'm super grateful to have been a part of this experience.

JOHN AMHANESI

KAYLA TAYLOR
Hello everyone! My name is Kayla Taylor. I am a rising junior as of Fall 2021 at The Pennsylvania State University. My major consists of Biology with a minor in African American Studies. Due to the Persevere Program, I was able to gain insight on what medical schools require in order to be considered for admission. Being able to connect with healthcare professionals who were once in our shoes was informative and meeting students/mentors who all share a common goal of perseverance and success was inspiring to say the least. This program allowed me to see things from a different point of view and allowed me to gain more knowledge, discipline and more motivation for what I want to be in life. For future scholars joining the program, It’s not about how you start, instead it's about how you persevere through hardship and finish.
